For many families in Canada, living with a disability can be costly. InControl Diapers would like to provide some information about some programs that are available to families who could benefit from some financial assistance for supplies (providing they qualify).

The largest provider of programs in Canada is the Easter Seals. Their main vision is to provide support, programs and assistance to Canadians with disabilities and their families, to allow those with disabilities to be able to live an independent and well balanced life. Easter Seals provides many services and helps fund programs to assist those living with disabilities such as assistive and adaptive technology, sport and leisure programs, rehabilitative and occupational therapy, residential and respite programs along with education, training programs and more.

The Easter Seals have a program called “Incontinence Supplies Grant (Diaper) Program”. Through this program, eligible families are provided with funds to help cover the cost of some of the incontinence supplies they require. It is an annual grant that is given in 2 payments.

Supplies this grant covers are:

  • Diapers
  • Pull ups
  • Swim Diapers
  • Catheters including straight, foley and drainage bags.

The eligible criteria for someone who may be eligible for this grant are:

  • Being a resident of Ontario who posses a valid health card between the ages of 3 -18
  • Suffer from a disability (developmental or physical) that results in incontinence problems that are irreversible that have been lasting at least 6 months

After reading the information provided regarding eligibility, if you meet the requirements you can apply for the grant online here

“According to the 2017 Canadian Survey on Disability, one in 5 Canadians—or 6.2 million people—aged 15 and over are living with some form of disability that affects their level of freedom and participation in society, independence and/or quality of life. Living with a disability can be complex, difficult, and expensive, placing tremendous strain and stress on an individual or family.”
