ABZ Fasteners: How To Use Them With Cloth Diapers

ABZ fasteners are the ultimate companion for cloth diapers - and a secure alternative to Boingo and Snappi!

Incontrol's ABZ fasteners are a safe and pin-free solution for applying, wearing, and removing a prefold, so you'll never worry about poking yourself while synching a fastener again!

Since 2020, Incontrol Diapers has provided the best incontinence products to restore freedom and joy in adults who wish to discreetly deal with urine and bowel voids. Here is everything you need to know when deciding if ABZ fasteners and cloth diapers are the right choice for your incontinence.

Why Are ABZ Fasteners The Best?

Firstly, each fastener offers the same pin-free benefits, making them the safer solution to wear and adjust. They also come in a variety of colours so you can select the design that best reflects your personality!

They come in 4 package options:

Additionally, the Arctic and Cotton Candy ABZ fasteners include a touch of whimsy in their fun design and luminescent ability. But if you’re looking for a more classic design, our Turquoise and Purple ABZ fasteners might be more your style.

Each ABZ fastener comes in a pack of 4. This multi-pack will be explained under the Who Wears ABZ Fasteners? section.

Their purpose is to securely hold a prefold in place with easy-to-apply hooks. Thanks to the ABZ’s soft and flexible cloud-like shape, the edges will never dig in as you wear them.

Not to mention, their curved edges have ample material for better grip when applying, adjusting, or removing the fasteners to help make the experience of changing a cloth diaper quick and simple.

Who Wears ABZ Fasteners?

They are suitable for both adults and babies. The only difference is that we recommend adults secure two fasteners per side (which is why they come in packs of 4) while babies only need one fastener per side.

ABZ fasteners are often used by those who are interested in an eco-friendly diaper option and wish to replace their disposable diapers with cloth diapers or prefolds.

However, many people also gravitate towards cloth diapers because they can be a money saver. Cloth diapers are washable and, therefore, reusable so you don’t spend as much money on one-time-use products.

Additionally, Incontrol’s prefolds are an ideal solution for someone who is seeking a lightweight, breathable, and soft diaper for the warm weather. Buy an Incontrol Prefold here!

ABZ fasteners will work with any cloth diaper (reusable or washable diaper). So, if you have a cloth diaper that no longer has working fasteners due to the snaps breaking or the velcro no longer sticking, ABZ fasteners are a terrific solution!

How To Apply ABZ Fasteners

Begin by determining whether the current stretch of the fastener is correct for your size. This will impact the next step which is stretching (or “teasing”) the ABZ fastener by lightly pulling at each cloud-like end until the fastener is as flexible as you need it to be.

Please note: The harder you pull, the more the material will stretch so please be gentle and don’t overstretch the fastener.

Once the fastener has the correct stretch, they are easy to attach and can be gently adjusted as many times as needed.

Applying the ABZ fastener is easy.

Sink the teeth into one side of the cloth diaper and connect it with the other to hold the one side in place. Then take a second fastener and repeat the process a few inches below the first fastener. Now repeat this process on your other side. (If you are using them on baby cloth diapers, one fastener per side will suffice).

Removing the ABZ fastener is also simple.

When you are ready to remove it, stretch the fastener in the direction of the side you wish to remove first. This will pull the teeth free of the cloth.
